7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Throughout its four-week run, Dichotomy of Compassion will unfold through a series of curated evenings that invite audiences into conversation, reflection, and collective inquiry.
Each activation will feature invited speakers, artists, advocates, and community leaders whose perspectives deepen the themes explored within the work. These post-activation conversations are designed to create space for meaningful dialogue, encouraging audiences to engage with the questions, tensions, and possibilities that emerge from the experience.
The American Dream for one group, fails those on “the other side.”
At the center of the installation is a sculpture, a home divided by a wall. The home sits in uncertainty atop a missile. One side exhibits resiliency of a home under threat and the other a stark colorless world of absolutes.
As the sculpture rotates, it projects a series of sounds and videos that weave narratives from the community. The rotation is an ever-changing layer of story, emotional cues and sounds. See if the voices of community, art and our event speakers can resolve our collective Dichotomy of Compassion.
Come see what side speaks to you.
In addition to the immersive gallery experience, we invite you to join us for conversations centering on the theme. Each conversation will be led by various guest speakers and community organizations.
Join us as we discuss the successes and failures of the American Dream as it pertains to our identities and experiences.
